Keyword Research
Finding and evaluating the search queries an intended audience uses.
Keyword research identifies the phrases people search for and evaluates which ones a site can usefully address. SaaS teams consider relevance, search intent, competition, and potential business value. Search volume and keyword difficulty can help prioritize, but neither predicts a guaranteed ranking or customer outcome.
Example: A subscription analytics SaaS researches “MRR formula,” “net revenue retention,” and “subscription dashboard.” A definition page may fit the first queries, while a product page or comparison may better suit the last. The team checks the results to understand what searchers expect before deciding the content format.
Watch out: Do not treat a tool’s estimates as observed demand for your exact market. A broad term may attract students and researchers rather than prospective customers, while a narrow integration query may have stronger buying relevance. Group closely related queries when one complete page can satisfy them. Creating separate near-duplicate definitions for every acronym and spelling variant can dilute clarity and make maintenance harder.
