Sales-Assisted Growth
A hybrid motion that adds human help to a product or self-service buying journey.
Sales-assisted growth combines self-service product access with targeted human assistance. Users may start independently, while sales helps accounts with stronger buying intent, larger needs, or obstacles such as security approval. Assistance can include an implementation consultation, a tailored demonstration, or procurement coordination.
Example: A collaboration SaaS lets anyone start a workspace. When a company has several active teams and asks about centralized administration, sales offers a call about its enterprise plan. Small accounts can continue buying online, while larger accounts receive the help needed to evaluate a broader rollout.
Watch out: Assistance should respond to a useful signal, not interrupt everyone who signs up. A usage spike alone does not prove budget authority or organization-wide intent. Combine product behavior with account fit and stated needs. Distinguish general sales assistance from product-led sales specifically: the latter deliberately uses product adoption signals to guide sales priorities and conversations. Both approaches depend on good coordination between product, marketing, and sales.
